At the 55th election Assembly of the Croatian Conference of Religious HRK which was held on 11 and 12 October in Zagreb, the new leaders of the Conference have been installed. The new President is Sr. Lidija Bernardica Matijević ssfcr, Provincial Superior of the Franciscan School Sisters of Christ the King, whereas Br. Miljenko Hontić ofmConv, Provincial Minister of the Croatian Province of St. Jerome of the Grey Friars, is the new Vice-President.
The other members of the HRK-Council have also been elected: Sr. M. Jelena Ikić mvz, Major Superior of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul; Sr. Samuela Markanović ms, Provincial Superior of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; Br. Milan Krišto ofm, Provincial Minister of the Croatian Franciscan Province of St. Cyrill and Method, and Fr. Sebastian Šujević sj, Provincial Minister of the Croatian Province of the Society of Jesus.
The new President thanked the former leaders of HRK who attended the Assembly: Fr. Slavko Slišković op, former President, and Sr. Gordana Igrec fdc, former Vice-President.
Besides the election process, the religious superiors reflected on the topic “Superiors and community: boundaries in relationships” during the morning session of the first day.
Guests at the Assembly were Bishop Zdenko Križić of Gospić and Senj, who presided over mass on the first day, and the Apostolic Nuncio for the Republic of Croatia, Giorgio Lingua, who lead eucharist on the second day.
As usual, the Major Superiors of Bosnia and Herzegovina were present as well.
