On 12-13 November 2024, the 10th Assembly of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors in Slovakia took place. Of the 73 members of the Conference, 61 superiors or their delegated representatives attended the meeting.
On Wednesday 13 November, the Assembly elected a new leadership for the next three years, i.e. from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2028. The new president of the KVRPS is now Br. Miroslav Kulich OFMCap; Sr. Renáta Jamborová SSS remains the vice-president. The new members of the Council are: Sr. Mária-Rita Žiaková OSU, Sr. Jana Kurkinová FMA, Fr. Marek Vaňuš SVD and Fr. Jozef Mihok CSsR.
The meeting of the highest body of the KVRPS was also attended by Archbishop Jonáš Maxim, President of the Council of the Bishops’ Conference for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, who informed the attendees about the course and conclusions of the Synod on Synodality.
The central theme of the Assembly was the new evangelization, which the members of the Conference jointly identified as one of the priorities of this period of activity. This topic was discussed by the invited guests – Archbishop Jonáš Maxim, Fr. Jozef Mihok CSsR, Sr. Lamiya Jalilová FMA and Bohuš Živčák from the River of Life community. In the panel discussion, they reflected together on new forms of evangelization and sought a new enthusiasm for proclamation, how to be the best possible witness for people in today’s world.
The two-day program also included the KVRPS Report for the three-year period 2021-2024, group discussions, presentation of educational offers for religious in various areas: protection of minors in the Church, study programs in cooperation with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trnava, a spiritual program for priests and sisters, and the Laudato Sí initiative of consecrated persons.
